AfroSankofa is much more than an online bookstore; it is a sanctuary for Black culture and Afro-descendant identity. We were founded with the mission of promoting pride and the richness of Black heritage through a carefully curated selection of books.

We believe children deserve the truth, told with care. Our books never talk down to young readers; they give them documents, photographs and questions, and trust them to think.
Why these books matter
Representation in a school library is not decoration. When a child sees their family's history bound, indexed and taken seriously, they learn that it belongs in the record — and so do they.
